About the Founder

My name is Kaylyn Kim. Since taking a 5th-grade poetry class,  I realized that stories have the power to tie humans together, and that is what motivated me to start this medical literacy blog.

Whether it is a life-changing experience or a daily occurrence, I want to highlight what makes us all human as our team raises awareness of stigmatized or underrepresented medical concepts for teens.

As you read this blog, I hope you can develop a curiosity for learning.
See you around!

I am a high school junior at the Brearley School in New York City with a strong interest in various fields of biomedicine. My science experience includes both wet-lab research and data analysis in neuroscience, genetics, cell biology, toxicology, and computational biology. Outside of research, I volunteer at a pediatric hospital and work to make healthcare more accessible for the families there. At school, I seek leadership positions as co-head of Science Club and The Catalyst, our STEM magazine. I hope to pursue a career in biomedical research and medicine after college!

Chapter Representative for Hiroo Gakuen Koishikawa Senior High School in Tokyo

Hi! I'm Yuuken, a high school senior from Tokyo, Japan, with a strong interest in immunology and biomedical research. My research experience has focused on understanding the relationship between the gut microbiome and obesity, during which I gained experience with molecular biology techniques and explored how the immune system influences human health. Outside of research, I co-founded a volunteer organization that teaches English to children through interactive activities, combining my interests in education and community service. I’m also passionate about science communication and enjoy finding creative ways to make complex medical topics more accessible. In my free time, I love playing basketball, watching sports, and writing poetry. I hope to pursue a career in biomedical research and medicine in the future.
